NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

A public meeting will be held as follows:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a Public Hearing of the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Krotz Springs, State of Louisiana, has been ordered and called and will be held at their regular meeting place the town hall, Krotz Springs, Louisiana on March 13, 2018 at 6:00 PM for the following purpose:

1. To adopt Ordinance No. 1 of 2018, AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO 2 OF 1982, ADOPTED NOVEMBER 9TH, 1982 (SEE CODE OF ORDINANCES CHAPTER 4, ANIMALS, SECTION 4.6-ANIMALS, PROHIBITED; EXCEPTION; ENCLOSURES; RUNNING AT LARGE).

2. To discuss any other matter which may properly come before the Mayor and Council.

ORDINANCE NO. 1 OF 2018

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO 2 OF 1982, ADOPTED NOVEMBER 9TH, 1982 (SEE CODE OF ORDINANCES-CHAPTER 4,

ANIMALS, SECTION 4.6-ANIMALS, PROHIBITED; EXCEPTION; ENCLOSURES; RUNNING AT LAREGE).

BE IT ORDAINED, by the Town of Krotz Springs, Louisiana, that Ordinance No. 2, November 9th, 1982 (Code of Ordinances-Chapter 4, ANIMALS, Section 4.6-Animals Prohibited; exception; enclosures; running at large), is amended by the addition of Section 4.6 (A), to immediately follow Section 4.6-Animals Prohibited; exception; enclosures; running at large, as follows:

4.6 (A) Violations and Penalties

     When a violation of this section is determined to exist, the owner or keeper shall be ordered to correct the violation within seventy-two (72) hours of receiving such notice. Failure to correct the violation may result in the owner or keeper being issued a summons to appear in mayor’s court, or in any court of competent jurisdiction, for the violation(s). Each day a violation of this section is continued shall be deemed a separate violation.

     Any person who violates any provisions of the sections of this chapter, upon conviction by a court of competenet jurisdiction, including the mayor’s court, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and may be fined any amount up to five hundred dollars ($500.00) for each violation, or imprisoned for not more than one-hundred-eighty (180) days, or both fined and imprisoned, in the discretion of the court.

     The complaint may enforce any provision of this chapter by instituting a suit for injunctive relief and use of summary process, including all temporary restraining orders permitted by law.

     BE IT FURTHERED ORDAINED by the Board of Aldermen for the Town of Krotz Springs, Louisiana, duly convened in regular session on the ____ day of ____, 2018, that the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable, and if any provision, word, phrase, or clause of this ordinance or the application thereof to any person or circumstances is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof.

     BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED  by the Board of Aldermen for the Town of Krotz Springs, Louisiana, duly convened in regular session on the ____day of _____, 2018, that this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon the signature of the Mayor.
